Choosing a good Coffee Roaster

November 21st, 2008

Coffee roasters vary in almost every way from extremely technical to very simple. The cost varies as greatly as the styles you can choose from. Certain manufactures are trusted to make a quality product and these are not always the most expensive. But in addition to quality and cost there are other factors to be considered.

What part will you play in the process?

Some roasters are designed very simply and leave more of the technical work to you. They merely serve as the heating device while you are responsible for measuring and mixing to get the desired result.

The simple models seal tightly to keep the heat and steam inside. They have a handle specifically made to allow you to swirl the beans and the steam keeping everything in motion so that the beans do not cook to the bottom and the heat is evenly distributed.

Even in this simple set up, be sure to look for ones that have a thermometer in the lid. Temperature control is important for proper roasting.

At the other extreme are roasters that do it all for you. Pop in a pre-determined volume of green beans from a bag, close the lid and walk away for a few minutes.

This sophisticated type of roaster has everything built in and removes all guess work. It has a temperature gage which constantly monitors the heat and adjusts itself accordingly. There is no need for stirring because there are built in mechanics that keep the hot air circulating and the beans in perfect motion. These models even shut themselves off when the beans are ready.

Even the fanciest high tech roasters or coffee makers do nothing for the inevitable cloud of smoke in the room that goes along with roasting coffee.

Efficient air circulation and heat

Air roasters work by rotating hot air in through the beans while also keeping the beans in motion. This will roast your coffee beans evenly and in some models even clean away the unwanted residue left over when the shell of the bean expands and bursts.

Most allow you to watch the process through a glass exterior, to judge the degree of desired roast. Frequently they have pre-set amounts on the dial ranging from light to dark.

Guitar Hero

November 20th, 2008

Guitar Hero has become a cultural phenomenon in the world of computer video games.  The guitar, software, and accessories are availabe in Guitar Hero - All Categories icon including Wii, Playstation, Xbox, etc. is a series of music video games published by RedOctane, in partnership with Activision. The series is notable for its use of a plastic guitar peripheral to simulate the playing of music, represented on-screen by colored notes that correspond to fret buttons on the controller.

Heidi Klum Guitar Hero

Their has recently been a controversial advertisement with model Heidi Klum playing Guitar Hero in her undergarments! The games support individual play as well as cooperative and competitive modes for two players. The series has used a range of both licensed and independent rock music tracks from the 1960s, throughout the decades to the present, including many master tracks from the bands. In total, six games have been released for video game consoles.  Games have also been released for mobile phones and the Nintendo DS handheld gaming system.

History

The series was originally developed by Harmonix Music Systems from 2005 to 2007. Then development duties of the series were transferred to Neversoft, whose first effort, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was released on October 28, 2007 in North America.

The Guitar Hero franchise has become a cultural phenomenon, making many appearances in popular culture, and the games have become extremely popular as party games and hobbies. The series has sold 23 million units, earning $1.6 billion in retail sales.

Guitar Controller

Guitar Hero is unusual because it comes packaged with a controller peripheral modeled after a black Gibson SG guitar. Rather than a typical gamepad.   This guitar controller is the primary input for the game. Playing the game with the guitar controller simulates playing an actual guitar, except it uses five colored “fret buttons” and a “strum bar” instead of frets and strings. The development of Guitar Hero was inspired by Konami’s GuitarFreaks arcade game, which at the time, had not seen much exposure in the North American market; RedOctane, already selling guitar-shaped controllers for imported copies of GuitarFreaks, approached Harmonix about creating a game to use an entirely new Guitar controller.

The concept was to have the gameplay of Amplitude with the visuals of Karaoke Revolution, both of which had been developed by Harmonix. The game was met with critical acclaim and received numerous awards for its innovative guitar peripheral and its soundtrack, which comprised 47 playable rock songs (most of which were cover versions of popular songs from artists and bands from the 1960s through modern rock). Guitar Hero has sold nearly 1.5 million copies to date.

Guitar Hero II Release

The popularity of the series increased dramatically with the release of Guitar Hero II for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. Featuring improved multiplayer gameplay, an improved note-recognizing system, and 64 songs, it became the fifth best-selling video game of 2006. The PlayStation 2 version of the game was offered both separately and in a bundle with a cherry red Gibson SG guitar controller. Guitar Hero II was later released for the Xbox 360 in April 2007 with an exclusive Gibson X-Plorer guitar controller and an additional 10 songs, among other features. About 3 million units of Guitar Hero II have sold on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.

The final game in the Guitar Hero series to be developed by Harmonix was Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s for the PlayStation 2, which was released in July 2007. This final game version, changing the visuals from Guitar Hero II, and shortening the song list with no bonus songs was not as well received by reviewers.

Transition

Transition Both RedOctane and Harmonix were experiencing changes in 2006. RedOctane was bought by Activision in June while it was announced in September that Harmonix would be purchased by MTV Networks. As a result of the two purchases, Harmonix would no longer develop future games in the Guitar Hero series. Instead, developing would go to Neversoft, a subsidiary of Activision known for developing the Tony Hawk’s series of skateboarding games.

Neversoft

Neversoft was chosen to helm the Guitar Hero series after Neversoft founder, Joel Jewett, admitted to the RedOctane founders, Kai and Charles Huang, that his development team for Tony Hawk’s Project 8 went to work on weekends just to play Guitar Hero. In 2007, Harmonix and MTV Games released a new music title through rival publisher Electronic Arts, called Rock Band. It expanded upon the gameplay popularized by the Guitar Hero series by adding drum and microphone instruments, allowing players to simulate playing songs as bands, though this functionality has now been implemented in Guitar Hero World Tour.

Guitar Hero III:

Legends of Rock was released in late 2007 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, and Mac platforms. The title is the first installment of the series to include wireless guitars bundled with the game and also the first to release a special bundle with two guitars. The game includes Slash and Tom Morello as playable characters in addition to the existing fictional avatars; both guitarists performed motion capture to be used for their characters animation in the game.

(aka Guitar Hero IV)

Guitar Hero World Touricon, previously named Guitar Hero IV, is the fourth full game in the series and was released on October 26, 2008 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. Analysts had expected that future Guitar Hero games in 2008 would include additional instrument peripherals to compete against Rock Band. Guitar Hero World Tour was confirmed as in development following the announcement of the merger between Activision and Vivendi Games in December 2007. Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick announced on April 21, 2008 that Guitar Hero World Tour will branch out into other instruments including vocals. Guitar Hero World Tour includes drums and is packaged with a new drum set controller. A larger number of real-world musicians appear as playable characters, including the great Jimi Hendrix, Billy Corgan, Sting, and Ozzy Osbourne. Guitar Hero World Tour also features the creation of custom songs that can be shared with others.

On September 4, 2007, Billboard announced that the band Aerosmith was “working closely with the makers of Guitar Hero IV, which will be dedicated to the group’s music.” On February 15, 2008, Activision announced that Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, an expansion game to the series, would be released on June 29, 2008.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is developed by Neversoft for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, while the Wii version of the game is developed by Vicarious Visions and the PlayStation 2 version is developed by Budcat Creations. The game features a track selection composed of 60% of Aerosmith songs, with other songs from Joe Perry’s solo work or artists that have inspired or performed with Aerosmith, including Run D.M.C. Also in the works: Activision’s 2008 SEC filings cited that they plan to release Guitar Hero: Metallica by the first quarter of 2009.

By all expectations Guitar Heroicon will once again be the number one selling computer video game of the year in 2008.  The Guitar Hero phenomenon lives on!

Easy Sensible Weight Loss

November 20th, 2008

Weight loss
is not an easy thing to accomplish but can be done. Since my daughter was born fifteen months ago, I have lost a little over sixty pounds. The two most important factors in weight loss are eating less and moving more. The main thing to keep in mind while working toward losing weight is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to try not to lose weight drastically. If you stick with your new eating and exercise habits then your weight
loss goals should be happily met.

The first thing to think about when working toward losing weight is to eat less. The average diet consists of about two thousand calories per day. While trying to lose weight, you can go as low as one thousand two hundred calories per day and still maintain a healthy lifestyle. Also, you have to remember to eat the right kinds of foods. Chow down on the fresh fruits and vegetables. Try to stay away from anything with sugar, and anything that is fried. When cooking, use the no-calorie spray butter instead of the real thing.

Switch to skim milk instead of whole milk. Also, at the beginning of the week, make out a healthy menu for the week and go by the menu when making your grocery list; this way, you will not buy things you will not need to be eating, plus it saves you money. Stick with the portion sizes listed on the food packages as well. When first starting to eat the right size portions, it may not seem like much food, but it is plenty to keep your body satisfied and healthy.

The second half to weight loss is to start moving more. It is recommended to at least walk briskly for about thirty minutes each day. If you have kids, you know this is not a problem. Take the dog for a walk a couple times a day; if not for yourself, for the dog because they need exercise too. Get together with a few friends from the neighborhood
and share the local gossip as you take a walk around the block a few times. Take a few laps around the backyard. Going shopping counts too! Pushing a fully-loaded cart around inside the grocery store is crazy good exercise. You not only get lots of walking time in, you give your arms a workout too by
pushing and turning that heavy grocery cart.

Another thing to remember where weight loss is concerned is to lose weight in a healthy way. The most healthy weight loss occurs when only two to three pounds are lost each week. This may not seem like much but it is important to keep your body healthy and not traumatize it by losing fifty pounds overnight. You may lose up to five pounds the first week or two and that is alright because you have made drastic changes to your diet and exercise habits; but after the first two weeks try to stick with two to three pounds per week.

Another option you may want to consider is a good weight loss pill. If you go this route, just remember that there is no such thing as a miracle pill. You will have to watch your diet as well. But weight loss pills can help.

Always consult a physician before taking any supplement or starting a new diet and exercise program.

Car Rentals At RentIn

November 20th, 2008

How do you think you find a good car rental agency? I get around 10 emails per day from Car Rental firms promoting their latest special offers and discounted vehicle rental prices in Europe and America.  I think I’ve managed to get a good pick out of the hundreds of companies pushing car rentals on the internet… yet everythime I book a flight, or order a hotel somewhere it seems the travel agency or hotel etc ask me about my car rental needs !!!

Would you like to know if the price they are being offered is a competitive price?  yes there are lots of suppliers out there in the car rental market nowadays but with such a huge choice its got to the stage that it just boggles the mind.

With price comparison sites jumping up all over the place it makes sense to check them out, they seem very good when it comes to insurance and buying a car, but not when it comes to rental it seems, however there are a few web sites out there whom seem to be able to grab all the data from the top 30 or so car rental companies around the world and sort through the results that they give you to provide the customer with the best choice of car rentals available on any specific day.  You can use it now as I’ve seen it running in a few different websites Marbella Car Rentals is one.  (Ideal if you need to pick up a rental car from Malaga for instance and drive down the sunny coast of the Costa Del Sol|This site specialises in providing car rentals for collection at Malaga Airport Spain|An ideal website for private apartments and car rentals in Andalucia|Perfect for travelling around the Costa Del Sol}.  Also the Nerja accomodation and car rental agency have the same car rental booking system in their website too!.

I’ve heard that the property rental group Rentin.TV is including this car rental portal in every niche property rental site they have through their whole network… so the day might be just around the corner where we only have to think of one name “Rent In” when we need to find a guaranteed low price for car rental wherever we are in the world !!

Tips for a Productive Commute

November 20th, 2008

Do you have a half hour or longer commute? If so, you may feel like you’re wasting 5 hours a week with the task of driving. Many people do unsafe things like talking on a cellphone, text messaging, even reading the newspaper while they drive. Why? To regain some of that lost time. But there are plenty of safer ways to get something accomplished while you’re stuck in traffic.

Relax. This ought to be the easiest one, but sometimes isn’t. Turn on some music, drive a little slower and just use the time to relax. Remind yourself that everybody needs a little down time, so that’s productive, too. You’ll probably find this a lot easier to do part of the time, if you do something else at other times, so here are a few ideas.

  • Listen to an audiobook. Whether it’s just the novel you don’t have time to read or a business book to help your career or finances.
  • Brush up on a foreign language. Publishers like Pimsleur and Berlitz offer CDs, tapes and even downloadable MP3s specifically designed for learning a language while you drive. Here’s a useful skill that also helps sharpen the brain generally.
  • Listen to news or talk radio. No matter your interest, there’s probably a talk radio program available to fit - from personal advice to pets to cars to cigars, talk radio is about a lot more than just current events. (Just remember when you’re ready to call in to a talk radio program that the number 4 tip in my list of 12 tips for calling a talk radio show is “don’t use a cellphone!” Wait for the phone call until you’re out of the car.)

Insist on Genuine Murano Glass Jewelry

November 19th, 2008

Nothing adds sparkle and glamour to your fine jewelry wardrobe like a stunning piece of hand crafted genuine Italian Murano Glass jewelry.

If you’ve never heard of Murano Glass before you may be surprised to learn that this Italian hand crafted jewelry has been around for centuries and men and women alike love the sensational designs and styles of this exceptional jewelry.

Traditionally made on the island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon in Italy, the special Murano Glass is hand blown by Master Glass Blowers and finished with clear, sparkling colors often accented with vermeil, sterling silver, pure gold and precious rhodium. The result is spectacular!

Murano Glass jewelry pieces are breathtakingly beautiful and hold their own against even the most dazzling gemstone necklaces. They are striking enough to be worn on special occasions and yet durable enough to withstand everyday wear.

You may be worried that wearing rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings made from glass is impractical at best and downright dangerous at worst? Nothing could be further from the truth. Murano Glass is tough and “fit for purpose”. It is not fragile. It will not shatter and cut you when you wear it. Just as car windscreens are made from specially adapted glass, Italian artisans have made fine jewelry from the special Murano Glass, for centuries.

Murano Glass jewelry will enhance any outfit with its wide variety of colors and designs. Common hues include reds, greens, blues, lavenders, pinks, ambers, yellows, bronzes and browns. Murano Glass jewelry also comes in all shapes and sizes. The blown glass beads can be tubular, round, oval, heart-shaped, square or rectangular, strung together in stunning collections of threads which drape beautifully around the neck or creatively formed into eye-catching pendants.

And if you love the thrill of owning something truly unique, Murano Glass is it! Because every single piece is hand made from hand blown glass beads, no two pieces are crafted exactly the same.

Whilst genuine Murano glass jewelry comes from the Italian island of Murano, it is widely available for purchase from reputable fine jewellers. In fact authentic, hand crafted Murano glass jewelry can be purchased online at affordable prices ranging from $50 to over $1,000!

But please do not buy cheap imitations. These are generally made in the Far East, are of poor quality and do not last. Insist on genuine Murano Glass jewelry from a company with a solid reputation for fine jewelry.

Wear Murano Glass jewelry and look stunning every time!

Forex Brotherhood Review

November 19th, 2008

The Forex Brotherhood is a members only program which gives you a comprehensive set of tools and programs to make you a better forex trader.  There are many aspects to this mentoring system. Some of the inclusive benefits are twice a day live webinars, the fx trading software, newsletters, hotsheets and an active forum where the host is available to answer your forex questions.

The host is Jason Alan Jankovsky and he has been a trader in the downtown Chicago area for 25 years.  This is what I consider to be one of the major benefits of the Brotherhood.  Access to a professional trader to ask questions to and who delivers real time information daily. How is this possible?  Jason does one morning and one afternoon analysis of the market via a webinar.  This online video experience brings you closer to the action as you watch and listen to a professional trader make trades in real time. It is the closest thing to actually being there.

Due to the amount of information provided it is clear that this is not a program for those “get rich quick” types.  There is quite a lot of information to go through, but you always have access to the forum to ask questions.  I mentioned that Jason is active in the forum, but there are others who are willing to step in and help regardless of your level as a forex trader.

The materials are top notch and between the tools and access to Jason, the forex trading mentor, you are starting your road to forex success with a solid foundation and on-going training.

Data Recovery

November 18th, 2008

Data recovery is a complicated job and the pre-performance of the appraisal work ensures successful retrieval. Data Recovery is a very time consuming process, and often quite expensive. Fortunately, there are some data recovery procedures that you can try before having to resort to professionals. Data recovery is something we hope that, we will never need. Whether you simply make the mistake of deleting important software, or you lose it all in a computer crash, that asset of information may seem like it is lost forever.

Data recovery is the retrieval of data (files etc.) held on damaged media such as computer hard disks, tape or other removable media such as floppy disks , CDs / DVDs etc. One of the most common reasons data recoveries is needed is that a hard disk simply fails. Data Recovery is exactly what it sounds like - a way to recover important information that was lost from a computer crash, hard disk malfunction, or virus attack. No matter the scale, big corporation database recovery or single user retrieval of files from spontaneous deleting, data recovery is an important and necessary part of any operating system. Data recovery is the process of retrieving computer data that, for any number of reasons, has become inaccessible using normal methods. Data Recovery specialists help one quickly determine which data recovery approach is the best for ones situation.

Data recovery is exactly what the words say - though often employed as part of computer forensics, there are other times when data recovery is critical. Floods, fires, and explosions may leave a data disaster in their wake. Data Recovery is always an option for these types of devices. The quality of the recovery depends on how much usable data there is. Data recovery is the science of putting the file system back together so that the data files can be accessed. Every operating system has a file system, which is a unique method of indexing and keeping track of the files.

Data recovery is a science. Quality recoveries come by thorough investigation and observation, developing recovering strategies, testing those strategies, and verifying the data. Data recovery is an important tool that is being used by many people the world over. The demand for data recovery specialists is growing as more people need their computers to function in the modern world. Data recovery is our specialization. Our support engineers have more than 16 years of experience in developing tools and unique techniques in the data recovery industry.

Data recovery is a valid business solution that can complement your current offerings by providing your clients with several options for keeping their businesses running smoothly. It’s fast (faster than rebuilding from scratch using the last backup), cost effective (less than 1 percent of cost of downtime) and gets back the most recent files versus the most recent copy.

Raid Data Recovery is an ongoing process which keeps your data very safe. Chances of both drives crashing at the very same time are virtually non existent. RAID data recovery is probably one of the most complex processes any data recovery firm can perform. More often than not, the problems are compounded by the actions of the client prior to sending the drives in for recovery. RAID Data recovery is accomplished by calculating the exclusive OR (XOR) of the information recorded on the other drives. Should 2 drives in the system fail at once, only hard drive repair and volume restoration using software will result in a RAID data recovery.

Hard drive data recovery is thought to be an arcane art, requiring expensive equipment and a high level of technical skill, but all of that only comes into play if the onboard electronics or the motor have failed. In that case, the drive platters are removed from the metal case in a special clean room, and the data is recovered by reading it off on a universal reader. Hard drive data recovery is a topic we often fail to consider until it’s too late. When your hard drive crashes, it takes your data with it. Hard drive data recovery services are now widely offered by a number of data recovery companies and businesses around the globe.
