Build Web Site Traffic First

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Build web site traffic first and then a business.

This may not work in the offline business world, but online a person can actually build web site traffic first and then build a business. In fact, this is the ideal route!

Who doesn’t desire success? It may seem peculiar to ask that question. Yet most of the people seeking to make money and build a business online will never achieve success. They’ll dream about it. They’ll talk about it. But most of them won’t possess it. And that’s a shame.

Why is that? Because most people don’t get it; traffic is the most essential ingredient to selling online. And even more notable, ongoing daily traffic is it.

The norm; search the Internet for how to make money online. Human nature will attract you to the latest product, service, idea or scheme. You then spend the next 6 to 24 months promoting it (you try others as well) through various advertising programs. At the end of the day, similar to purchasing a lottery ticket and checking the numbers after the drawing, you come to realize that the game is over and you’ve lost.

I plead with you, stop doing business this way. This is not how you build a successful Internet business. This is not the lottery. You don’t stop at the corner convenience store on the way home, buy a ticket, and then wait for success to strike. Nor is it a magical place you find through some secret map presented in the latest e-book. It’s a traffic thing - you either got it or you don’t.

I challenge you to STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN. Spend time today to think about your business, your goals, and what you are currently doing. Reflect and evaluate and then make adjustments.

The world stands aside to let anyone pass who knows where he is going.

In our early online days, we turned 100% of our focus to building traffic. This has proven to be our best and smartest move. Today, armed with a substantial amount of ongoing daily traffic, we make sales everyday.

How to Protect Yourself From Credit Card Fraud

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

A thief goes through trash to find discarded receipts or carbons, and then uses your account numbers illegally.

A dishonest clerk makes an extra imprint from your credit or charge card and uses it to make personal charges.

You respond to a mailing asking you to call a long distance number for a free trip or bargain-priced travel package. You’re told you must join a travel club first and you’re asked for your account number so you can be billed. The catch! Charges you didn’t make are added to your bill, and you never get your trip.

Credit and charge card fraud costs cardholders and issuers hundreds of millions of dollars each year. While i.d. theft is the most obvious form of fraud, it can occur in other ways. For example, someone may try and conduct an online scam, even though your phone is listed on the do-not-call list.  Or, they may use your card number without your knowledge.

It’s not always possible to prevent credit or charge card fraud from happening. But there are a few steps you can take to make it more difficult for a crook to capture your card or card numbers and minimize the possibility.

Guarding Against Fraud

Here are some tips to help protect yourself from credit and charge card fraud.

Do:

  • Sign your cards as soon as they arrive.
  • Carry your cards separately from your wallet, in a zippered compartment, a business card holder, or another small pouch.
  • Keep a record of your account numbers, their expiration dates, and the phone number and address of each company in a secure place.
  • Keep an eye on your card during the transaction, and get it back as quickly as possible.
  • Void incorrect receipts.
  • Destroy carbons.
  • Save receipts to compare with billing statements.
  • Open bills promptly and reconcile accounts monthly, just as you would your checking account.
  • Report any questionable charges promptly and in writing to the card issuer.
  • Notify card companies in advance of a change in address.

Don’t:

  • Lend your card(s) to anyone.
  • Leave cards or receipts lying around.
  • Sign a blank receipt. When you sign a receipt, draw a line through any blank spaces above the total.
  • Write your account number on a postcard or the outside of an envelope.
  • Give out your account number over the phone unless you’re making the call to a company you know is reputable. If you have questions about a company, check it out with your local consumer protection office or Better Business Bureau.

Reporting Losses and Fraud

If you lose your credit or charge cards or if you realize they’ve been lost or stolen, immediately call the issuer(s). Many companies have toll-free numbers and 24-hour service to deal with such emergencies.

By law, once you report the loss or theft, you have no further responsibility for unauthorized charges. In any event, your maximum liability under federal law is $50 per card.

If you suspect fraud, you may be asked to sign a statement under oath that you did not make the purchase(s) in question.

Discovering how to remodel my house

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

After having trouble with a few appliances I had an electrical contractor into the home, to look at some of our cabling and look into installing some external lighting. The wiring showed up as a a loose connection to the plug and was quickly remedied. The external lighting took slightly longer for the electrical contractor to fit as they needed to fiddle about feeding the wire down through the cavity wall space but they soon had a switch and light installed. I had gone for a automatic light so that the sensor registered anybody coming within a certain area of the sensor and the light came on.

The people that provided the fitted kitchens that I had been hankering after for a long time had recommended the electrical contractor to me. The fitted kitchen was great as the lovely cabinets and drawers that had been used in the kitchen layout, space|made such good use of the area} I had space to spare for extras I had wanted to get for ages. I was able to talk to someone about the kitchen planning and managed to arrange the kitchen in such a way as to have a dishwasher fitted (great when you have children).

Living just along the road from the sea and owning a small yacht we often have to go into the areas marine stores to top up on medical supplies. Medical supplies are one of those things that you so easily forget to resupply and they slowly lessen until you haven’t got anything in the stores. I have just found a brilliant marine stores online where I can order my supplies and not have to get in a detour to the store.
